Eco de Mar is an invitation to immerse yourself in the landscape
that surrounds us when living on an island: the sea.
It is a call for conservation, research<\/strong>
and the recognition of this vital environment.<\/strong><\/p>

The sea<\/strong> provides us with food, tourism, and sustenance
but it also faces threats<\/strong> like climate change
and harmful tourism practices.<\/p>

We believe that through knowledge
and shared experiences of exploring the reefs
and their biodiversity, we can foster a culture of<\/strong>

Zenu Underwater Museum MUZIF<\/p>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The MUSZIF Underwater Museum's mission is to conserve and protect the coral reefs of Isla Fuerte.<\/p>

Besides offering an alternative diving site, it brings together the pottery traditions of the nearby town of Momil rooted in Zen\u00fa culture with reef regeneration,using fired clay sculptures as a substrate for coral growth.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Pedagogy for conservation<\/p>

\"Guardians of the Sea\u201d is the educational program\u00a0<\/span>of Eco de Mar, a community initiative on\u00a0<\/span>Isla Fuerte that fosters environmental awareness\u00a0<\/span>among children and\u00a0<\/span>youth.<\/span><\/p>

The Process, The union of cultures<\/p>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The sculptures, created by Pedro Fuentes
and other artisans of pottery tradition from
the nearby town of Momil, pay homage to
the Zen\u00fa heritage, an indigenous culture
that inhabited the island in pre-Columbian times.
In this way, art, history, and ecology intertwine,
creating a space where the past and nature

Guardians of the Sea is an active project
that holds weekly sessions where
girls and children on the island learn
about species interactions
with the marine biome.
Through workshops at the hotel,
participants prepare for seabed observations
using pedagogical resources such as photography
and coral texture identification
with clay sculptures.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The project, launched in 2019 at our Ecohouse hotel, focused on recognizing the marine ecosystem and the state of coral reefs. It raised awareness about caring for them and created spaces for reflection and transformation.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Adem\u00e1s de ser un sitio de buceo alternativo, fusiona la tradici\u00f3n alfarera del pueblo cercano de Momil y sus ancestros zen\u00faes con la regeneraci\u00f3n de arrecifes, utilizando esculturas de barro cocido. Guardianes del mar Pedagog\u00eda para la conservaci\u00f3n “Guardianes del Mar” es el programa\u00a0educativo de Eco de Mar, una iniciativa\u00a0comunitaria en Isla Fuerte que fomenta la\u00a0conciencia ambiental en ni\u00f1as, ni\u00f1os y\u00a0j\u00f3venes. A trav\u00e9s de experiencias integradoras, promueve el reconocimiento del entorno natural y la conexi\u00f3n activa con la naturaleza. EL MUSEO SUBMARINO Ver la vida marina florecer La belleza de las obras y la colonizaci\u00f3n deorganismos vivos en el entorno marinoconvierten este escenario en un lugar \u00fanicoy especial. \u201cLlegaron algas, esponjas, hidrozoos, d\u00e1ndoleforma definitiva a Muszif que hoy cuenta con25 piezas sumergidas a unos 6 metros deprofundidad\u201d.
