"A reserve created to protect one of the island's most vital ecosystems: the mangroves."
We're protecting 25,000 square meters of mangrove swamps as part of our conservation initiative.
These freshwater bodies are formed when rainwater collects during the wet season. When this rainwater is mixed with seawater during high tides, it creates an ideal environment for fish, shellfish, and mollusks., These bodies of water serve as breeding and refuge areas for many species.
Additionally, mangroves protect the island by preventing erosion and shoreline loss.
This ecosystem is a vital source of food and shelter for many resident and migratory birds. Therefore, one of our goals is to promote recognition of the area's value for birdwatching within the community, and to increase knowledge of the species that inhabit it.
We are currently building a dock made of recycled wood. Designed as an observatory of the ecosystem and the species that inhabit it, including various birds. This space will contribute to ecotourism on the island by promoting appreciation and conservation of the natural environment.
We want to expand our initiative and develop a project of greater scope where the mangrove and the birds are the protagonists.
These are illustrative representations of the evolution
imagined for this project, in harmony with the community and the ecosystem
To do this, we are looking for the necessary resources that will allow us to strengthen
conservation and ecotourism on the island.
