A reserve to protect one of the island's most important ecosystems
The 25,000-square-meter area of mangroves and ponds is part of our conservation initiative.
These freshwater bodies are generated with the accumulation of rains in the wet season and, when mixed with the water of sea during high tides, create a ideal habitat for fish, shellfish and mollusks, functioning as areas of reproduction and shelter for numerous species.
In addition, the mangroves protect the island of erosion and of loss of coast.
Many resident birds and migratory depend on this ecosystem as a source of food and shelter. Therefore, One of our goals is promote recognition of its value for birdwatching within the community, promoting knowledge about the species that it inhabit.
We are currently building a dock using recycled wood, designed as an observatory for the ecosystem and the species that inhabit it, including various birds. This space also contributes to ecotourism on the island, promoting appreciation and conservation of the natural environment.
We want to expand our initiative and develop a broader project, where the mangrove and birds are the protagonists.
Illustrative representations of the evolution that
We imagine for this project, in harmony with the community and the ecosystem.
To do this, we are looking for the necessary resources that will allow us to strengthen
conservation and ecotourism on the island.
